Art of Decluttering

Today, while all the boys (hubby included) napped, I got a bit of time to myself to sit quietly and read.  Currently, I am reading about 4 books... I have very low attention spans for certain books so I am guilty of reading multiple books at one time.  This afternoon I decided to continue reading, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo.  This book has helped me to look at the act of decluttering and organizing as a sort of spiritual experience.  Before you roll your eyes or stop reading hear me out.  The book examines your connections to things and helps to keep you create a space that mirrors the lifestyle you envision.  It has given me a reason to appreciate and love the things I have that I choose to keep in my home and to rid myself of those items that may drain my energy.  A quote that from Marie Kogon's book stuck with me..."What things will bring you joy if you keep them as part of your life?"  This question really transcends the examination of just one person's "things" but can apply to people too.  Keep and surround yourself with joy and your energy will shift.  Treat your home as a sanctuary of joy by cherishing and caring for it.  It is something I am guilty of not doing.  I am hoping to practice this so called "art of decluttering" in these upcoming weeks to help inspire me into a joyfully creative state of mind.
