Welcome!
There is no better day than today to introduce my blog, so here goes.
I find myself sitting awake watching the sunrise and listening to the birds chirp and the dog snore. I just dropped off my eldest at school at 4:45am this morning to go to Washington D.C. for her school trip and the boys are all sleeping soundly – one of which who has taken over my spot in the bed next to dad. I figure its not worth going back to sleep to wake up in another two hours to the relentless bed jumping, screaming, and demands that are most likely set to begin my Sunday morning.
I decided to start this blog for me really…I know kinda selfish. The thing is that I am really not a selfish person, but I find that I do and sacrifice so much for others that its time I do something for me. At first I wanted to blog about my daily rantings of being a self-retired middle school teacher to be a stay at home mom for my four year old twin boys and thirteen year old daughter, but really that is only a piece of my life. My husband and I run a successful business and are currently renovating our small home to at least accommodate the two new additions to our family. On top of this I try to cook, clean, organize, decorate, homeschool (preschool only), train the dog, garden (which I am horrible at) and coordinate schedules on a daily basis. Time for me consists of volunteering – which the type of 'Mom' volunteering tasks done really is for the kids benefit more than my own. What I really want to do with my “me” time is to create, design, paint, write, listen to music or just simply read. Throughout the day, I seem to accomplish or fail at a variety of tasks. I have learned, that in my lone existence as a SAH mom, its nice to have an outlet as a way to share the journey. My nickname is Mom is blog about just that…everything that is me including the Mom role that I don’t let define my existence but incorporate it into the multifaceted lifestyle I am continually improving on and designing. I am a teacher, a cook, an organizer, a house keeper, a music collector, a business owner, a blogger, an artist, a dancer, a dog owner, a dieter, a gardener, a wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter, and my name is Michele and my nickname is Mom.
Happy Mother’s Day!
